As stranded residents in Oman continue to seek repatriation options amid the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, since mid-June, the Embassy of Nepal in Oman has assisted the return of 492 of its nationals in coordination with SalamAir.
In a statement issued online by the Embassy, the most recent departure took place over the weekend on Friday, July 10, with 179 passengers on-board — all of whom presented with negative PCR certificates.
As The Himalayan Times reports, the first SalamAir repatriation flight from Oman for Nepali nationals took place on June 16, with 166 passengers transported safely to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
The Embassy also confirmed that a second flight from the Sultanate carrying 147 Nepali citizens also took off from Muscat International Airport on July 4.
In its statement, Embassy officials expressed their thanks to SalamAir, Omani and Nepali authorities, and the Nepali Social Club in Oman for helping to facilitate a smooth journey for all returning citizens.
