With 2,164 new cases of COVID-19 registered by the Ministry of Health (MoH) today [Monday, July 13] the total number of cases in Oman has now reached 58,179, with a record 6,173 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
MoH authorities have also confirmed that COVID-19 recoveries in the Sultanate have risen to 37,257, with 1,159 new recoveries on Monday. Two new fatalities today have also brought the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the Sultanate to 259.
The capital region of Muscat recorded the highest daily tally of new cases today, with 827 new infections bringing the total in the governorate to 33,638. North Al Batinah saw the second-highest daily figure with 526 new infections today for a total of 7,530 in the governorate. While, South Batinah registered 229 new cases for a total of 6,029.
As per inferences from the latest data on the Tarassud Plus app — Oman’s intuitive mobile app that tracks COVID-19 cases in the country per governorate and by Wilayat, the remaining breakdown of cases among the governorates is as follows:
The governorate of Dhofar registered 145 new cases today, for a total of 1,967, followed by Al Dhahirah with 141 new cases (total 1,019), Al Dhakiliyah with 139 new cases (total 3,116), South Ash Sharqiyah with 75 new cases (total 1,489), and North Ash Sharqiyah with 63 new cases (total 1,272.)
The governorates with the lowest numbers of confirmed new COVID-19 cases on Monday were Al Buraimi, which had 18 new cases for a total of 631, Musandam with 1 new case (total 37), and Al Wusta with zero new cases (total 1,451).
