Merge 104.8 | 11 June 2020
Speaking today [Thursday, June 11] at the 10th press conference of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19, Oman’s Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi stated that COVID-19 recoveries in the Sultanate are set to increase, noting the following points:
— Oman will see a rise in COVID-19 recoveries as the Sultanate has changed its timeline for recovery based on the following criteria.
— Until now, globally, some countries test and wait for the patient to be COVID-19-free for two weeks before announcing them as recovered. Now, more countries are starting to reduce this two-week period to claim recovery, which is why increased numbers of recoveries are now being logged, and Oman will follow suit.
— Quarantine is to be considered an official sick leave. For people in Oman located in areas where mandatory quarantine or sanitary isolation was enforced — such as in Muttrah — they will also be considered on official sick leave.
— Many schools in the Sultanate have also been used as locations for institutional quarantine.
