Speaking today [Thursday, June 11] at the 10th press conference of the Supreme Committee for COVID-19, Oman’s Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi stated that COVID-19 recoveries in the Sultanate are set to increase, noting the following points:

Oman will see a rise in COVID-19 recoveries as the Sultanate has changed its timeline for recovery based on the following criteria.

Until now, globally, some countries test and wait for the patient to be COVID-19-free for two weeks before announcing them as recovered. Now, more countries are starting to reduce this two-week period to claim recovery, which is why increased numbers of recoveries are now being logged, and Oman will follow suit.

Quarantine is to be considered an official sick leave. For people in Oman located in areas where mandatory quarantine or sanitary isolation was enforced — such as in Muttrah — they will also be considered on official sick leave.

Many schools in the Sultanate have also been used as locations for institutional quarantine.
