COVID-19 Live: 22,000 people in home quarantine in Oman, says Minister of Health

Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 has announced during its 14th press conference held today [Thursday, September 3], that 22,000 people in Oman are currently under home quarantine.

Speaking at the briefing were:

Touching on developments amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the Sultanate, Supreme Committee members noted the following:

— Oman has placed orders to companies that are in the third stage of testing potential vaccines for apprval.

— There are currently 22,000 people under home quarantine in Oman.

— Till date there have been 705 COVID-19-related deaths thus far in Oman, while the total recovery rate has crossed 94 per cent.

— Since July numbers of cases have been dropping, though there are now more than 26 millions coronavirus cases worldwide.

— Youth are responsible for combatting rumours and misinformation, and to help in raising awareness about COVID-19. Also, they should be reminded that while the disease may have mild symptoms for them, they have parents and older relatives who could also catch it.

— Chances of receiving a positive COVID-19 test have dropped from 50 per cent at the peak of the spread, to 17 per cent.
