COVID-19: India to operate 2 repatriation flights from Muscat, Salalah today

As Phase 2++ of India’s Vande Bharat mission to repatriate its nationals abroad got underway on Tuesday [June 9], two more flights are scheduled to depart today [Wednesday, June 10] from Muscat and Salalah.

In a statement issued online, the Indian Embassy in Oman confirmed that check-in was underway at Muscat International Airport for Air India Express flight IX 1350 to Kozhikode, and at Salalah International Airport for Air India Express flight IX 1446 to Kochi.

Also departing yesterday [Tuesday, June 9] from Muscat as the latest phase of the mission kicked off, was Air India flight 1212 to Vijayawada in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Another 14 repatriation flights between Oman and India have been scheduled between June 9-23, 2020. In a circular issued by the Indian Embassy the schedule for the new flights is as follows:

The Indian Embassy has confirmed that passenger lists for all new repatriation flights will be finalized by the Embassy, and those short-listed to fly will be contacted directly by their representatives.

Priority for travel will be given to those with medical emergencies, pregnant women and the elderly, workers in distress, and “other Indian nationals who are stranded in difficult situations.”
