Sanitary isolation in areas of Muttrah has ended as of today [Saturday, June 6] after the decision to lift lockdown restrictions was announced by Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 on Thursday, June 4.
Checkpoints at Darsait signal have been removed and traffic heading towards Muttrah along the Qurum Heights road is once again accessible to traffic, as reported by Oman Observer.
The move to ease lockdown measures in Muttrah came as a result of the area’s improved epidemiological situation after the Wilayat was identified as the epicentre of the capital’s COVID-19 outbreak and was placed under health isolation as of April 1.
As per the Supreme Committee’s directives, the areas of Hamriya and the Old Muttrah Souq will remain under health isolation due to concentrated numbers of cases in those areas, while businesses in the Wadi Kabir Industrial Area remain closed.
Among the further precautionary measures to come amid the partial lifting of the lockdown is the continued restriction of public transit and taxis in the Wilayat.
Permitted commercial activities however, will now be allowed to operate between the hours of 7:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. daily.
