Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) announced that the country has recorded cases of mutated variants of the Coronavirus, including the strains first discovered in India, Britain, and South Africa.

In an interview with Oman TV, a medical laboratory specialist said that the mutated strains are one of the reasons for the increase in COVID-19 numbers that has been witnessed globally, as they are more transmissible.

The doctor said that the Delta variant that was first discovered in India spreads 60 per cent faster than the original strain.
