His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik has donated OMR 10 million to Oman’s new Employment Security Scheme which was established today through a Royal Decree.
As Oman’s Government Communications Centre (GC) reports, the program aims at providing practical solutions for Omanis who were laid off through providing social security, as it is a national issue of priority to the government and to society.
This program will be funded by the government and the private sector, along with employees, as each staff who is employed will pay OMR 1 out of each OMR 100 of their monthly salary toward the Employment Security Scheme.
The first phase of the program will be implemented starting November 2020 to support those employees who have been laid off. The second phase, which will be implemented after three years will see monies paid into the program used as a support fund for job-seekers.
