The UK has officially announced that the country is in a recession due to the impact of COVID-19 lockdown measures which caused a record economic decline between the period of April and June 2020.
As the BBC reports: “The economy shrank 20.4% compared with the first three months of the year.”
According to the BBC, authorities in the UK have indicated that the economy has begun to recover as of June when many coronavirus measures on movement were lifted.
This marks the UK’s first official economic recession since 2009.
