Merge 104.8  |  15 September 2020

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has released a list of locations where non-Omanis cannot own land and property.

The list includes the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Wusta and all wilayats of Dhofar except Salalah.

The list also had the wilayats of Shinas, Luwa, and Masirah.

This new law will be implemented starting from the 19th of November 2020.

Ownership of land and property in islands and mountains like Jabel Shams, Jabel Akhdar and any mountain “of strategic importance,” will be exclusive to Omani citizens.

The ministry said that owning lands and properties near Royal Palaces and Military bases are also banned, as well as ancient neighborhoods.

The law does not apply to Integrated Tourist Complexes (ITC).
