A fire broke out in an Air India Express flight at Muscat International Airport earlier this morning.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that the Kochi-bound flight was preparing for takeoff when one of the engines caught fire, and officials immediately evacuated the passengers in response.

The incident led to around 14 injuries, as passengers who were rushing out of the plane caused a stampede, but officials confirmed that all the injuries were minor and that they all received the necessary treatment.

The CAA confirmed that the incident did not affect air traffic, and that everything is resuming as usual.

An official at Air India said that investigations are currently underway, to figure out what caused the fire.
