The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced that it launched an early warning broadcast service via mobile phones, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and telecom service providers.
This service aims to alert citizens and residents of incoming emergencies, such as flash floods and tropical weather systems like cyclones. The authority urged all mobile users to activate the early warning broadcast service, which can be done by turning on the emergency alerts option in settings.
The CAA will test the service in some areas to ensure that it is activated in the coming days, and the service is available in a number of languages, including Arabic, English, Urdu, and Hindi.
